MIRA: A WHALE’S STORY
During her adventures across oceans, a young whale learns what it truly means to grow up, to carry love in her heart, and to navigate her unpredictable world with courage.
In this middle grade novel-in-verse, Mira, a young blue whale, is alone in the vast ocean. With only the memories of Mother’s powerful words and stories to guide her, Mira sets out on a perilous journey across the unforgiving sea, determined to find her. Along the way, she encounters a range of sea life—some kind, some dangerous—each with their own stories. As Mira faces the ocean’s challenges, from lasting hunger, to avoiding cargo ships, to evading the black and white killers, she uncovers the bravery, trust, and strength within herself.
But the journey proves more difficult than Mira imagined, testing her hope and resilience. Living a solitary life in the ocean, she struggles with moments of loneliness and doubt, finding solace in the Deep, a place where she and Mother ventured for shelter and comfort. With each new obstacle she overcomes, Mira discovers that her search is about more than finding Mother… it’s about creating her own story to tell.
